Derek Trucks (w/the Allman Brothers Band) - 'Layla (medley)'

Is there anyone on earth better than Derek Trucks? (Rhetorical question, the answer is no)

You Tube belched up this video to me because I've watched it before. It's been a while, thought I'd give it a second look and glad I did. Yeah, he was pretty much the best even back when he was a little kid.

Only after noticing the title (July 4, 1993) that it dawned on me: Holy Shit! I was at that show! Another search later confirmed that day they were at the Raleigh Amphitheater. Yeah, that's where I was!

I don't remember this song--or any songs, because I was shroomed out of my gourd. I am pretty sure there was music playing though....and I definitely remember watching fireworks in the parking lot. It was a great day.

Thank you, internet. Good job.

The Mynah Birds - 'It's My Time'

Neil Young and Rick James were in a band together....?  Why am I just learning about this right now? How many more mind-blowing revelations are out there for me to discover?

'Full Metal Jacket'

(Or as I now think of it: "The Ballad of Rafterman")

Eve Arden

Walker Evans

The Chemical Brothers - 'Star Guitar'

A tribute to listening to music on your commute to work. Kinda brilliant.

Every once in a while it sometimes occurs to me that hippies were underrated. But then again, they had so few moments as great as this, so maybe they weren't.

'How Green Was My Valley'

PJ Harvey & Bjork -- 'Satisfaction' (1994 BRIT Awards)

OMG, how am I just now seeing this for the first time?

Happy New Year!
